Carriages
Histories of the carriages at the AVR.
The Avon Valley Railway Heritage Trust has a large collection of passenger carrying railway carriages, mainly of the British Railways "Mark 1" design introduced in the 1950s. Around eight Mark 1 coaches are in an operational condition and are used on a regular basis for our steam and diesel services and special events. The remainder are in varying states of repair, stages of restoration or are used for other purposes, for example serving as a staff mess or additional seating for the new Buffet which opened in 2008.
