Mark 1 carriage 15447 was built by Metro Cammell in 1953. It was a Composite Corridor carriage meaning it was divided up into half first and half second class compartments. It was the railway’s first carriage, arriving here in 1976. It ran for many years up and down our then short stretch of track. Unfortunately, the condition of the carriage deteriorated over the years and it was eventually deemed to be beyond economical repair and was subsequently scrapped in the early part of 1985.
