Avon Valley Railway - Terms & Conditions

General

Whist every effort will be made to adhere to the published timetable, all dates, times and services are subject to amendment or cancellation.

The Avon Valley Railway Company Limited (AVR) cannot be held responsible for any loss or inconvenience should it become necessary to alter or cancel the advertised services.

The AVR reserve the right to ask any member of the public to leave the railway if it is deemed necessary to do so, including if they are seen to be breaking the law, using abusive language, unruly behaviour that is likely to cause themselves or others harm or damage any property.

Dogs are allowed to travel on the trains but are not allowed on the seats or tables. You may be asked to leave if they do so. Dogs are not permitted onboard our dining trains, or select special events.

No alcohol other than that purchased on the railway may be consumed on our property. You will be asked to leave if you do so.

Tickets should be purchased in advance online, or at the station ticket office before boarding the train at Bitton Station. If you board the train at Oldland Common or Avon Riverside stations, you should purchase your tickets from the Travelling Ticket Inspector. It is an offence to travel without a ticket.

Late Arrivals

We advise you to check the timetable before travelling and allow at least 20 minutes before the time of departure to park your car, purchase your tickets and board the train.

Under no circumstances will the train be delayed for latecomers, even if the rest of the party is already on the train.

No refunds will be given for missed trains.

Bookings

All bookings are subject to availability, varying ticket terms and conditions may apply.

Tickets can be purchased through our ticketing providers, Quay Tickets, via our website. You can also pay via cash or card (including contactless) at our station booking office to buy tickets on your day of travel.

A transaction fee of £2.00 will be taken for all online bookings.

Gift Vouchers are available for purchase via our website. Please note that customers will need to redeem the voucher by making a booking before the voucher expiry date. Voucher extension may be granted at the discretion of our staff.

Advance reservations are held for the agreed period of up to 30 days, as decided by our administration team. All reservations will be cancelled if a payment or deposit is not received within the agreed time period. A deposit will be required for all bookings.

All payments should be made in one transaction, unless a deposit has been agreed. Payment by instalments is not accepted for any bookings.

When payment has been received, you will be sent a confirmation email. Please bring this with you on the day of your visit as proof of purchase. Tickets will then be issued to you at our booking office before your journey.

Changes, Cancellations and Refunds

It may be possible to change the date and time of a ticket once it has been confirmed, depending on the type and availability.

Changes will carry a minimum of £2.00 administration fee.

If you choose not to use your ticket, refunds will depend on the conditions applicable to each ticket type and refunds may not be given on certain types. The issuing of refunds will be at the discretion of the Duty Manager.

Cancellations and refunds will carry a minimum of a £2.00 administration charge.

Damage

Passengers will be held responsible for any damage they may cause to any part of the railway stock or premises and will be charged the full cost of repairs.

Group Bookings

All bookings are treated as provisional until a deposit has been received. The deposit must be received within payment terms, or the order will be cancelled without notice.

Final group numbers must be given to the AVR no later than 14 days prior to the date of travel, at which point the amount payable by the client will be calculated. The remaining balance based on the amount payable will be due prior to the date of travel, within agreed payment terms.

Changes, Cancellations and Refunds

All deposits are non-refundable, although it may be possible to transfer bookings to another date. An administration fee of £2.00 will be charged.

Cancellations given without the due notice of 7 days waive the customer's right to a full refund and may incur a cancellation fee.

Damage

The client will be held responsible for any damages to any part of the railway stock or premises caused by the client or their guests, and will be charged the full cost of repairs.

Special Events

Special Fares may apply for these events. See the relevant publicity for details.

Tickets purchased in advance may have a discount if purchased in advance of the event.

Full payment is required at the time of booking.

Pre-booking is advised for Special Events due to high demand. Some tickets may still be available to purchase on the day via our booking office, subject to availability.

Dining Trains

Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Tickets include travel, refreshment, and in some cases entertainment. Seating is reserved.

Any specific dietary requirements must be selected at the time of travel. We are unable to guarantee that dietary requirements not stated at the time of booking can be catered for.

Refunds are not typically granted to dining train customers, but may be given at the discretion of our staff in extenuating circumstances.

Customers may be transferred to another date, depending on availability and provided 7 days' notice has been given to the railway. If re-booking is not possible, a credit voucher may be offered.

Changes will carry a minimum of £2.00 administration fee.

Santa Specials

Tickets include travel, seasonal refreshment and a visit from Santa. All children will receive a present from Santa.

Passengers under 1 year of age are classed as infants, children are aged between 1 and 10 years of age and passengers over 10 years old are classed as adults. Adults may purchase an 'Adult with under 1 on lap' ticket for a small surcharge for those travelling with an infant on lap.

Bookings for children or adults with special needs are encouraged to contact our station booking office on 0117 932 5538, so that we can advise which seating would provide the most accommodating option for your party. Wheelchair Users and smaller parties with SEND children who would benefit from a private compartment should contact the railway booking office to book.

No dogs are allowed to travel on the Santa Specials, apart from guide dogs.
