DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) Purchase
Today, we are asking for your help with a rare and exciting opportunity. A Class 117 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) has unexpectedly become available for purchase, and the Trustees believe it could become one of the most valuable operational assets on Avon Valley Railway.
Opportunities like this seldom arise. After a detailed inspection by our Engineering Team, we are confident that this unit is in very good condition and has the potential to support the Railway's operations, sustainability and long-term future for many years to come.
If a purchase is unable to be made, for whatever reason, funds donated to this appeal will be transferred to our ongoing Fit for the Future Appeal, aiming to secure the Avon Valley Railway’s future.

Many of our members and volunteers will remember the tremendous value a DMU brought to the Railway in previous years. It was an asset that was regularly used, highly regarded and greatly missed when it left. Opportunities to acquire a vehicle of this quality, in operational condition, and at an affordable price arise only rarely.
