25299 was built by BR Wolverton in October 1957 to Lot 30349, Diagram 146. It was initially allocated to the Midland region - which meant the letter M would've been placed in front of its number, IE M25299. 25299 is a "second corridor" coach, which means it has a corridor down one side with eight compartments of second class seating alongside it. As it was built for the Midland region, it was built to have compartments of 6 seats which are separated by arm-rests. This means it has an original capacity of 48 people. However, later SK coaches didn't contain any armrests and could fit 8 people per compartment. Today, this carriage is laid out like later SK carriages with 8 seats in each compartment.
