M35255 is a 'brake' version of the Mk1 carriage series, providing four compartments for seating as well as the Guard's compartment and a luggage area. This carriage was bought from British Rail at Cardiff in 1982 and moved to Bitton shortly afterwards.
In 1986 a major refurbishment of the luggage area took place, to turn it into a purpose built section for wheelchair users. This was kindly supported by NatWest Bank.
Seating in this carriage is in compartments similar to those featured in the Harry Potter film series. There are 8 seats in each compartment and 35255 has 4 compartments, making a total of 32 seats. There are 6 extra seats in the wheelchair area of the carriage, making a total of 38 seats when combined with the compartment seating.
